WHY ORGANISATIONS SHOULD JOIN

Days of Change is a tool that can help organisations become more sustainable. There are many benefits to organisations that join, including:

Support of Existing Sustainability Programs

The program is designed to complement any existing in-house sustainability efforts that an organisation may already have in place. And for organisations without comprehensive sustainability programs already in place, Days of Change provides an easy, free way of doing this.

Many of the actions that an organisation will take, or that staff will take by changing their work habits, will result in significant savings to the organisation, whether it be through reduced energy bills, reduced water costs, or even reduced waste treatment costs.

Engaging Staff

Days of Change provides a mechanism to engage with staff in an easy way using a staff pledge card. Staff pledges can be selected to support overall sustainability goals that they organisation might have.

By providing a means to embrace the willingness of staff to help reduce the organisation's footprint, daysofchange.org can help create a more motivated, loyal workforce. With many indicators pointing towards a new resources boom, this is particularly important in a competitive human resources market.

Engaging Members

Days of Change can also be used by organisations to engage with members and customers. The definition of a member is flexible to be able to meet the needs of different types of organisations.

For example, for local government organisations, their members will be their ratepayers. For tertiary education institutions, their members will be their students, whilst for not-for-profit organisations their members will be their signed-up members.

Organisations can choose pledges that they would like their members to undertake.

So a local government organisation could choose pledges for its ratepayers that drive the ratepayers towards its community sustainability programs such as training, workshops or information sessions.

Profiling Commitment to Sustainability

Organisations will also be able to use the daysofchange.org program to raise the profile of their in-house efforts to become more sustainable via their public profile pages.
